Celebrating five years of Adoption East Midlands

Adoption East Midlands celebrated five years as an organisation in April!

There are now 33 Regional Adoption Agencies in England and AEM was around the eleventh to go live.

There are a range of models and a range of differences of which services are in and out of scope for the Regional Adoption Agencies, but together through Adoption England all the RAAs strive to work collaboratively to improve services. Ofsted recently inspected a cross section of RAAs and you can read the report on the gov.uk website.

We have been able to work together with our partners in AEM to deliver a broader range of services, such as increasing our agency advice functions and now delivering birth family support on behalf of all partners.

We have also been able to access DfE grant funding to develop our adoption support offer and we now have new roles within this team, including youth, education and peer support.

Our partners now have a regional recruitment hub for fostering called Foster East Midlands and we are increasingly able to work together across the geography.

In addition AEM is able to work across the Midlands, to improve recruitment and family finding and to identify the needs of adoptive families within the region.

We've developed throughout the five years of operation, and we commit to continuing development, to always being able to adapt to new initiatives, such as early permanence and maintaining relationships.

Our greatest asset is our committed workforce and it was fantastic to come together to celebrate our 5 years and build on our relationships.
